How do I become a CBAP member?
To become a certified Business Analysis professional, you need to qualify for the CBAP exam administered by the IIBA. This is a three-and-a-half hour exam comprising 150 questions based on the BABOK guide (A Guide to Business Analysis Body of Knowledge). The CBAP exam takes place either at approved test centers or online at your home at a time that suits you. The test is available in English only. However, before taking the CBAP exam, you must meet the eligibility criteria defined by the IIBA.
Are you eligible for CBAP?
- At least 7,500 hours of professional experience in Business Analysis over the last 10 years in activities listed in the BABOK Guide. A “busines analyste” job title is not required. The functions of project manager, requirements manager, test analyst, etc. cover Business Analysis activities and count in full towards certification.
- At least 900 hours in four of the six knowledge areas
- 35 hours of professional development units over the past 4 years
- Two references from a career manager, colleague or customer
