Data analysis is an important part of Business Analysis. The ability to analyze not only the structure of the data, but also the structure of the database, is the basis of any analysis.

SQL (Structured Query Language) is the standard query language for relational databases. The language has evolved since its adoption in the 1980s, and is now available in its 11th version: SQL:2023.

The language is not only integrated into all major databases (Oracle, SQL-Server, DB/2, PostgreSQL, MySQL, MariaDB, etc.), but also forms part of office tools such as Excel and Access.

The use of SQL is therefore an essential part of any Business Analyst’s toolbox.
