CCBA admission conditions for certification and examination

The Business Analyst who wants to register for the ECBA certification exam must meet the following conditions:

Professional Experience as a Business Analyst
- As this certificate is based solely on knowledge of the BABOK, no professional experience is required.
Professional Development
- Demonstrate 21 hours of training in the broad field of Business Analysis during the last 4 years.
- Our ECBA certification preparation course, in addition to the Business Analysis Foundation course, provides the required number of hours.
ECBA® Code of Conduct
- You must sign the code of ethics and good conduct for ECBA.

IIBA ECBA preparation course

The training program for the ECBA certificate consists of 2 parts.

The Business Analysis Fundamentals course covers the methods, techniques, and best practices of business analysis. This course is practice-oriented and allows you to acquire the necessary skills to work effectively in business analysis.

The ECBA certificate preparation course is designed to prepare you for the ECBA exam with minimal individual preparation.

Our course is approved by IIBA and maximizes your chances of passing the exam on the first attempt. However, personal investment is necessary to succeed in this exam and to familiarize yourself with the questions you might encounter. To guide you in your approach, we offer access to a test training tool in our courses. Although it contains no questions from the official exam – as the questions are confidential – the questions guide your thinking, and you have a dashboard to assess your level independently.

Format of the exam

The ECBA exam is available in English and French. However, if you wish to take the ECBA exam in English, proficiency at least at the upper-intermediate level (CEFR B1+/B2) is required.

The test lasts three hours and includes 50 multiple-choice questions, each independent of the others. The exam assesses knowledge of business analysis skills according to the BABOK® Guide Version 3.

The results, expressed as a percentage of success by chapter and overall, are communicated immediately after the exam. However, IIBA does not disclose the exact passing threshold.
